On 13 Jan 2018, the breakthrough of tailings and water return tunnel for Pulang Copper Mine constructed by JCHX was successfully achieved around 13:20. On the same day, on behalf of the client, Mr. Xudong ZHANG, General Manager of Yunnan Diqing Non-ferrous Metals Company along with other management staff attended the celebration ceremony on site and extended his sincere gratitude as well as congratulations to JCHX.
The tailings and water return tunnel is 3150m in total length (excl. service inclined shaft), which is a key run-through system for the project. In consideration of the outstanding performance that JCHX has done in third-section capital construction works for Pulang Copper Mine, the client invited JCHX to take-over the construction of tailings and water return tunnel on 6 June 2016.
The project poses multiple challenges such as extremely complex geological conditions, rock fragmentation, large water ingress, many karst caves, frequent unexpected mud flow, ventilation problem with single-end long distance development. Since inception, JCHX took active measures, strived hard and resolved to complete site layout, engineering design under the support from and through collaboration with client. In order to fulfill the obligations and honor our promises, to ensure the safety and timely completion of works, a highly skilled, qualified and competent team was gathered, and under the leadership of Mr. Rushun WANG, the whole crew worked arduously, optimized construction plan for several times, strictly followed the standards and norms set out by the client and completed the target with not compromises to safety, quality or time requirements, despite of poor ground condition, long haulage distance, difficult underground ventilation. To maintain a high standard of quality, steel-arch and advanced pipe-roof support were installed at 78%. Finally a successful breakthrough was achieved at the beginning of new year after 351 days of unremitting efforts.
