JCHX Won EPCM Contract for the Largest Underground Non-ferrous Mine in China

On Jan 27th 2016, through a fierce competition, JCHX Mining Management Co., Ltd. won the EPCM contract for First Phase Mining Project of Pulang Copper Mine, which is currently the largest underground non-ferrous metal mine, total accepted contract amount is RMB 188.9 million, with contract period of eight years.

Pulang Copper Mine is located at northeast part of Shangrila, Yunnan Province, belonged to Yunnan Copper Industry Corporation, holding subsidiary of Chinalco. A series of new technology and techniques, new equipment and materials shall be adopted according to the design, such as main conveyor belt drift development, block caving mining method, trackless equipment loading system, unmanned locomotives haulage system etc. Designed capacity is 12.5 mt/a, with two years before reaching full scale production. It shall be the largest underground non-ferrous metal mine in China once completed, and be a model of safe, green, intellectual and efficient mine in China.

Main scope of works included in this contract are underground development, mining, installation, maintenance etc, all shall be done by JCHX.

Major equipment shall be provided by JCHX with total investment estimated to be RMB 400 million. JCHX shall choose world famous manufactures as suppliers, the planned equipment fleet include 4 cubes diesel LHDs, 6 cubes electric LHDs, single-arm drilling jumbo, long-hole drilling jumbo, charging trucks, service cars, as well as guniting machine, agitator truck, automatic bolter, hydraulic splitting machine, and even large-hole drill rig and suspension handling jumbo. To ensure the successful operation of all equipment, JCHX shall fully utilize its rich experience in trackless equipment, take advantage of cooperation with college and universities and training facilities with imported simulators, to help its operators and maintenance man familiarize with the equipment and operations.

After receiving the letter of acceptance, JCHX instantly established organization of the project, Chairman Mr. Xiancheng Wang as the Chief Commander, Vice President Mr. Qingtian Gong as Technical Director, managers, designers, mining engineers, rock mechanical engineers, information and communication engineers, quality inspectors, safety officers, material staff, blast operators, surveyors are also arranged according to the requirements of tender document. Meanwhile, JCHX further studied the block caving mining method, together with the experts from JCHX R&D Center, JCHX Institute, it will review the document and research findings in details concerning site condition and geological environment. Currently the crew are trying their best to simulate the mining process based on all researches and designs, finding ways to ensure the smooth transition through mine construction to production and the time requirement of two years ramp up stage. Once full production begins, it shall further endeavor to expand the production to 18-20 mt/a, thus to create more economic benefits and social benefits.
