Rope Adjustment For Main Shaft Succeeded In First Trial

Recently, Lujiang Project carried out the adjustment for the wire rope of hoist in the main shaft. Through intensive and orderly operation, the mission has been completed successfully in its first trial.

Wire rope is the most vital component for hoisting system, thus high accuracy is extremely required. Upon receipt of this assignment, all staff of the Project attached great importance to it, under the leadership of project manager and equipment manager, and the whole crew totally 12 employees including fitters, supporting staff, safety personnel and site technicians etc, were briefed on the construction method.

After morning shift meeting on March 15, whole crew was devoted into initial preparation: including cleaning falling objects from head frame, setting up anti-falling rope, selection of the lifting panel, laying of first floor anti-falling platform at the auxiliary well and second floor auxiliary platform, hanging the 3rd layer lifting girder, laying the rope locking beams, mounting the rope locker and tightening the wire ropes etc.

It was nearly 11:30 by then, however the wind was very strong and cold which brought certain challenges to the work. To ensure the smooth implementation of works, the team threw themselves back to work right after lunch: locking the cylinder after reaching its maximum stroke by pressurization, locking anti-spinning device of the wire rope, pressurizing the other 3 cylinders into maximum stroke, loosening the wedge shape device, depressurizing the rope to the minimum stroke, tightening the wedge shape device, pressurizing the rope to stress state, balancing the 4 ropes cylinders, locking cylinders as step one. This process has been repeated 16 times till the mission was completed. Length of the rope adjusted was 2 meters.

The highlight of this mission are as follows: rope adjustment was done without any wench, its know-how lies in the mobility of the lifting cylinders and the height difference from the wire rope stress. The successful completion in first trial of this mission would not be possible without the briefing and on-site coaching of the equipment manager. Precious experiences were drawn for the project to undertake assignments of such kind in the future.
