During the time of fighting against coronavirus, overseas division recently called for voluntary blood donation for a Chinese colleague who fell ill, demonstrating the sincere care for our countryman.
Mid Feb 2020, one Chinese employee who works at southeast orebody of Chambishi in Zambia felt unwell, after being medically examined on 18 Feb he was found suffering from low platelet content and desperately in need of transfusion with AB type blood, which unfortunately was in shortage at local hospital.
Upon learning the situation, Mr. Wang Youcheng, VP of JCHX and GM of overseas division immediately appealed for a blood donation among all Chinese employees on site.
At 16:00 of the same day, 11 employees with AB-type blood volunteered themselves to save the colleague’s life, they are respectively from Chambishi, Luanshya, overseas division, and maintenance workshop.
Blood brings power to the life, love shed a light upon the life. Those 11 selfless colleagues gathered in Kitwe Blood Center where each of them donated 400ml blood after filing document and going through medical tests. Each drop of the blood donated represents boundless love. Their heroic behavior proved the spirit of courage and selflessness, and brought hope of life.
In view of the potential risks in medical treatment, Mr. WANG urged the blood center to extract the platelet soonest and through coordination the extracted platelet was successfully extracted and sent to the hospital for treatment at around 23:00 the same day.
To timely follow up with the medical treatment and physical condition of the patient, Deputy GM Mr. Guo Dadi, HR Manager Mr. Su Lianyong, Admin Director Mr. Zhao Mingyang, and Mr. Jiang Shuanglong stayed in the ward until 9:00 of next day, and only left after patient’s platelet level was found stable.
At 8:00 of 20 Feb, the patient’s function indicators improved a lot but platelet level recovered quite slowly. After consulting the doctor, overseas division appealed for another round of blood donation to facilitate a quicker recovery of the patient. Those who didn’t get the chance to donate in the first day released a quick response. Totally 2000ml blood was donated by another 5 selfless employees.
Under the care and love from all members, the patient has recently recovered and been discharged from the hospital.
Love is boundless. The names of these volunteers should not be forgotten, they are Hua Boxiang, Li Zhiwei, Xing Chengjiang, Jiao Zhigang, Li Jincheng, Hou Qingfeng, Huang Guoqi, Zhang Yonggang, You Chengli, Sun Haogong, Cao Bin, Chen Jin, Luo Jun, and Huang Liang.
The voluntary blood donation fully represented JCHX’s family culture and the spirit of teamwork.
