On 21 Jul 2020, as the second drilling jumbo (Boomer 282) is transported down the shaft and successfully assembled underground, two drilling jumbos as planned for the works are both mobilized and ready for production.
Affected by COVID-19, manpower and equipment required for the works couldn’t be mobilized during H1 2020, causing a delay to the schedule. On 29 Jun 2020, under the support from JCHX headquarter and overseas division, 23 Chinese expatriates finally arrived in Serbia, and required equipment and machineries successively delivered to site.
Upon completion of induction training and safety education, newly arrived expatriates respectively commenced their works as per their specializations. Supply Department started inventory check, filing of equipment technical specifications, and on-site supply management, kicking off the production for H2 2020.
The priority for H2 task is to lower the jumbo (Boomber282) to work front at -75mL. After times of discussions on hoisting plan, preparatory work was done by supply department. On 2 July, the jumbo was orderly disassembled according to the SOPs.
At 8.00 AM of 3 Jul, disassembled drilling jumbo was ready to be transported down the shaft. The whole process was supervised by the Project Manager. After checking hoisting device and attachments, such as wire rope and fasteners, it was double-checked that jumbo was securely fixed. Propelled by a loader, drilling jumbo approaches slowly to the bank. Upon instructed by Production Manager, jumbo was hoisted step by step before lowered into the shaft.
After around 20 minutes, the jumbo reached station on -75mL. Underground workforce dragged the jumbo into the tunnel with a forklift, then boom and drilling auxiliaries were orderly lowered as required. At 15.00 PM the maintenance crew started assembling work. Despite of humidity limited underground space, the assembly work was successfully completed the same day owing to the arduous work by the team.
With the experience gain from transporting the first jumbo, the second one was lowered to -37mL and successfully assembled on 21 of July. As required by production schedule, more equipment including LHD (LH514), and shotcreting machine (SPM4210) should be mobilized to underground later, which will be an even harder work. However, no challenge can intimidate the team in Kinsey, who are determined to expedite the progress and achieve the annual target in a safe manner.
