SOP Safety Knowledge Contest Held at Chambishi Project

On October 29, a SOP Safety Knowledge Contest was held at Chambishi Copper Mine in order to further improve employees’ safety awareness and fully implement the Notice on Strengthening Training, Evaluation and Application of SOPs issued by JCHX Overseas Division.

Jointly organized by Safety Department and Admin Office, hosted by UG production manager, the contest was participated by teams respectively from main ore body, west ore body, haulage and conveying system, rebuild workshop and 174mL maintenance workshop, with each team consisting of five Zambian employees. More than 40 employees including engineers, managers, PICs and off-duty workers witnessed the event and cheered for the contestants.

All questions were prepared by Safety and Environmental Protection Management Department, covering various aspects from UG safety production to surface civilization construction. There were totally four rounds with each round being eliminated. Contestants drew lots for their questions, and answered them within 20 seconds. After 2hrs of intense and orderly competition, the team from haulage and conveying system won the first place while the team from main ore body and the team from old panel of west ore body won the second and the third respectively.

Then Bwalya Mulenga, UG production manager, concluded that safety holds the top priority of production, and UG production can be smoothly carried out only with safety awareness deeply rooted in every employee’s mind. Then four managers awarded gifts to all contestants. In the end, photos were taken to record this pleasing and harvest moment.
