At 18:17 on November 17 (Serbian time), a successful breakthrough was achieved between air return shaft and decline at -80mL at Chukcalu-Paige Copper-Gold Mine, which was 3 days ahead of schedule. The Owner, Zijin Mining Serbia, sent a congratulation letter to Kinsey the same day.
The letter said that great efforts and major progress has been made by Kinsey, despite of various obstacles such as widely-spread Covid-19 pandemic, water inflow, poor ground condition, and serious roof caving. Achievements has been made through practical exploration, technical innovation and optimized organization.
The successful breakthrough significantly improved underground ventilation, facilitated the transportation of manpower, equipment and material, which has promoted work efficiency. More importantly, the successful completion of mining tunnel has laid a solid foundation for the output of 50kt high grade ore in 2020.
Last but not the least, Zijin stated that the achievement would be impossible without the efforts of all Kinsey personnel, and also raised expectations that Kinsey could continue to pursue high work quality to make new progresses.
