On July 23, a precise breakthrough was achieved with high quality, efficiency and zero accident， between -30mL air connection (developed by Kinsey – subsidiary of JCHX Mining) and 1# shaft (developed by Lianshao of Hongda Blasting Engineering Group) at Timok Copper & Gold Mine, owned by Zijin Group.
-30mL air connection is a single-end long-distance development starting from the inset of 2# shaft and ending at the inset of 1# shaft，with a total length of 888.8m. To realize precise breakthrough, orientation survey was organized twice with double-check and calibration followed. Besides, the control traverse was repeatedly surveyed to ensure precision of breakthrough when development of air connection is progressed until 100m to the end.
The meet the timeline, -30mL air connection was treated as critical path by the management since Q2. Production and technical management personnel made prominent efforts by deliberate planning and innovative thinking to facilitate ventilation and mucking through various effective measures.
To enable efficient communication among different contractors, a wechat group was set up consisting of key personnel and relevant workers from Lianshao, Zijin and JCHX, through which work instructions, blasting schedule, alarming, work procedures & sequences were timely exchanged and confirmed.
The safe and precise breakthrough of -30mL air connection is extraordinarily important for the project despite of its not-very-long distance, for it will significantly improve the air condition on -30mL which will further facilitate works at UZ-2 orebody; and it will enable expedited installation of backfill pipes, improve backfill operations on -80mL, and lay a solid foundation for further expansion of production.
