For the purpose of energy conservation and consumption reduction, Kinsey completed ECL system renovation works to five drilling jumbos by 11 Aug 2021.
At present, totally five Boomer 282 drilling jumbos are operated on site. Subject to work requirements, ground support should be executed in parallel to drilling, which means only one boom should be operated when installing bolts and meshes. However, according to the original design of Boomer 282 two drifter shall be activated simultaneously once in operation and lubricated by two pulse pumps, which causes reactive consumption of oil.
A task group was formed consisting of mechanical engineers and maintenance technicians to solve this issue, who carefully studied electrical control schematic of ECL system, analyzed electric circuit and sought for renovation method. Through several rounds of discussions with engineer of OEM, it was concluded that coils for pulse pump Y106 and Y107 should be connected in series respectively with normally open contacts K64 and K74 to enable activation of only one boom during operation.
The above ECL system renovation not only saves equipment operation cost by reducing reactive consumption of oil, but also enables maintenance personnel to gain deeper knowledge about Boomer 282. Furthermore, the target of energy conservation and consumption reduction is achieved based on technical studies and economic analysis.
