On December 14, China Construction Industry Association awarded 2020-2021 China Construction Engineering Luban Prize to JCHX’s Pulang Project, which is the only project of non-ferrous metal industry among 246 award-winning projects.
Located in Diqing Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province, at an altitude between 3500m and 4500m, Pulang Copper Mine is a key project supported by the Central Government to realize leapfrog development in Tibetan areas. With block caving method and a designed capacity of 12.5 mtpa, the project features safety, efficiency and low cost, while facing construction challenges arising from large structural stress, complicated geologic conditions and plateau environment.
To ensure construction quality, JCHX has procured trackless fleet from Epiroc and Sandvik after making detailed comparison among equipment from different manufactures and replacing NA engine with turbocharged engine and diesel generator with motor, which has guaranteed project safety, quality and duration.
The project has conducted research & studies on and applied innovation to 9 technologies, and acquired the approval of 4 provincial-level (ministry-level) construction methods, 3 patents (including one national invention patent), 1 provincial-level (ministry-level) scientific and technological advancement award (first prize), and 4 QC achievements. In addition, it is honored with the title of “2017 Demonstration Project of New Construction Technology Application in China’s Non-Ferrous Metal Construction Industry”, “2017 Standard Project for Safe Construction & Production in China’s Non-Ferrous Metal Construction Industry” and “2018 Demonstration Project for Green Construction in China’s Non-Ferrous Metal Construction Industry”. What’s more, on December 13, it won “2021 Excellent Project Award (Ministry-Level)” from China Non-Ferrous Metals Industry Association.
As the highest-level national award in construction industry, Luban Award evaluation is held every two years based on the election procedures of application, qualification check, review & appraisal and public announcement, so as to ensure award quality and authenticity. Actually, JCHX’s “Capital Development Project at the West Orebody of Chambishi Copper Mine in Zambia” and “Verification Project for Dongtai Potash Project in Laos” have already won 2014-2015 Luban Award.
Great attention has been paid by JCHX to the application for Luban Award by Pulang Project. Under the leadership of Mr. Wang Xiancheng, Chairman of JCHX Group, and Mr. Wang Qinghai, Chairman of JCHX Mining, persons and department involved have prepared and submitted sufficient supporting materials in strict accordance with application requirements. Besides, the expert team of Luban Award visited the project in this August to listen to the presentation from the Employer and the project and inspect project quality, during when the project is highly recognized and praised.
The reason why JCHX’s Pulang project can outshine other strong competitors lies in its commitment in persistently pursuing technologies development & innovation and unwaveringly prioritizing project quality. The award has significantly inspired the entire company to work harder to implement JCHX’S Fifth Five-Year Development Plan and make more contributions to the company’s development.
