Monthly sinking rate (lining included) at 2# air return shaft of Cukaru-Peki Project (a world class copper & gold deposit) reached 103.5m in November, exceeding the monthly target, for which, Zijin Serbia, the Employer, sent a congratulatory letter to the project.

The Employer highly recognized the efforts and contributions from JCHX in maintaining a long-term good partnership with Zijin and in supporting Zijin in respect of its mining business over the past years. In addition, Zijin specifically expressed congratulations to JCHX Serbia team for completing 103.5m in November with good quality, despite of adverse factors such as poor ground.

Such record would be impossible without the hard work and collective wisdom of the entire project. The temperature plunge, consecutive heavy rainfalls and constant water inflows made it extremely hard to execute the works in November, no matter in sinking, material mobilization or mucking. For which, special meetings were held to detail and adjust the construction plan based on site conditions, the management were scheduled to monitor and supervise the activities of each shift, engineers were assigned to follow up the work progress and to solve problems on-site by taking targeted measures. Besides, production organization and management were strengthened to guarantee smooth connection between work procedures, and crew was intensively motivated to explore the potential of self-management & creativity.

The project also took every chance to publicize safety production, strengthen safety education and training, and further enhance workers’ awareness of responsibility, to make sure all safety measures were appropriately implemented. Besides, pre-shift meetings were organized to deliver safety instructions, stress the working process of the previous shift, assign tasks for next shift, and address matters that require special attention. All safety inspection areas and items were thoroughly clarified, weekly and daily inspection system was strictly implemented.

Currently, works at 2# air return shaft and 1# air take shaft both entered the critical stage. While breakthrough was achieved at 2# shaft, steady progress was also made at 1# shaft despite of multiple difficulties such as UG water inflow, poor & water-swelling ground. Facing the arduous tasks, the project will continuously make concerted efforts to achieve better records by strengthening standardization, optimizing construction techniques and applying innovative management.
