Accurate breakthroughs of declines were achieved respectively at Musonoi between 400mL and 540mL on March 12 and Chambishi Southeast Orebody between 800mL and 980mL on March 17.
As another triumph in ultra-long single-end development, this breakthrough with a total length of 1166m marks the first victory after transfer from vertical to horizontal development at Musonoi, and significantly facilitates subsequent works including the lowering, transportation and installation of large equipment and materials for pump station, distribution room and ore pass and crushing system, and is of great importance to the capital construction on 540mL and mining preparatory works at all sublevels.
During the decline development, multiple challenges were encountered due to complex geological and hydrological conditions, such as faults, aquifers, soft calcareous silt stones, not to mention difficulties brought by long-distance single-end development such as ventilation and drainage problems and high temperature. Management and technical personnel at Musonoi cooperated closely with the Owner and the Supervisor to promote UG production organization and logistical support in a coordinated and effective way, as well as strengthen quality control, safety management and technical support. Gyro system was used for orientation with joint surveys and re-measurements done for multiple times, the final accuracy reaches the top standard for ultra-long development.
The breakthrough of main decline at Chambishi Southeast Orebody between 800mL and 980mL exceeded 1750m, 930m of which was undertaken by JCHX. As an important part of Phase I development project, this breakthrough lays a solid foundation for ventilation improvement at different levels and following mining preparatory works at sublevels of main decline.
