Successful breakthrough was achieved at the deep orebody of Kamoya Copper & Cobalt Mine with the last blast completed at 940 mL main haulage roadway on 1st June by Beam Mining & Construction SARL, following successful breakthroughs achieved at service decline, HV decline and LV decline, marking a big step towards construction completion and operation commencement of the deep orebody.

940 mL main haulage roadway, a key work for connecting the LV decline, HV decline, service shaft and air shaft, lays a solid foundation for improving ventilation & drainage systems and accelerating mining preparatory works, which is significant to subsequent capital construction and production.

Faced with multiple challenges such as high pressure, heavy water inflow, strong aquifer and water-bearing faults & weak ground, the project engineers conducted detailed study of fissure aquifer and breccia layer to optimize roadway design. Water challenges were smoothly removed after more than two months of hard work together with front-line workers.

To ensure accurate breakthrough, the project, after conducting cover drilling every two development cycles, carrying out water sealing and completing the installation of permanent drainage system, timely adjusted techniques and applied advance water conducting, while ensuring safety, to satisfy production requirements in respect of water drainage.
