
On May 28, ahead of International Children's Day, representatives from JCHX Sabwe Mining visited Lonshi School in Kambove Town, Lubumbashi, Haut-Katanga Province, DRC, bringing warm holiday wishes to the children through a heartfelt charity donation event.
Located in the community of Sabwe Lonshi project, Lonshi School has over 1,400 students and faculty members and has long faced a shortage of desks and chairs. Since 2022, while providing subsidies for the school’s staff, Sabwe Mining has donated desks, chairs, uniforms, and other supplies to the school in four batches. This time, Sabwe donated another 188 sets of desks and chairs, bringing the total number of donated and repaired sets to over 400.
Mr. Zeng Haipeng, Executive Deputy GM of Sabwe Mining, expressed that as a Chinese mining enterprise deeply rooted in the DRC, JCHX has always been committed to supporting local socio-economic development and improving people’s livelihoods. This year, Sabwe Mining will construct classrooms and office facilities for Lonshi School and fund the purchase of teaching devices, further enhancing the school’s infrastructure and empowering children’s growth and education.
Mr. Kunda Kisonde Ernest, Principal of Lonshi School, mentioned that JCHX Sabwe Mining has always been a good neighbor and good partner to Lonshi Village and Lonshi School. Their support and care reflect JCHX’s strong sense of social responsibility, and the teachers and students will always remember its kindness. Lonshi School will continue to work hand in hand with Sabwe Mining to contribute even more to the education development. Allain Umba, representative of the Community Development Committee, remarked that they have witnessed Sabwe Mining’s ongoing efforts in fulfilling its social responsibilities and look forward to continuing the cooperation with JCHX to promote the prosperity of Lonshi Village. Bwale Oscar, Musonda Jemima, and Joyce Kunda, on behalf of the school’s teachers and students, also extended their gratitude for Sabwe’s generosity.
During the event, Sabwe Mining prepared holiday gifts and school supplies for every student. The children expressed their excitement and appreciation through songs and dance performances.
