Sabwe Mining SARL (Sabwe), a subsidiary of JCHX Mining, recently celebrated the official completion and handover of a football pitch in Lonshi Village. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mr. Zeng Haipeng, Executive Deputy General Manager of Sabwe, alongside the President of the Lonshi Sports Association, the Village Chief, and local community representatives, in a warm and festive atmosphere.
Sabwe is located in Lonshi Village, Kambove Territory, in the Haut-Katanga Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). While the DRC has a deep-rooted football culture, the Lonshi area has long lacked adequate sports facilities to meet the needs of its residents due to local economic constraints. The construction of this football pitch, funded by Sabwe, has now turned the "football dream" of local enthusiasts into reality.
During the ceremony, Marina Kiloba, President of the Lonshi Sports Association, expressed sincere gratitude to Sabwe for its generous contribution to the community. She noted that the completion of the pitch not only enhances the village’s sports infrastructure but also fosters community cohesion and promotes the development of a local sports culture.
Village Chief Mwape Alfred commended Sabwe for its long-standing commitment to infrastructure development and community support. He remarked that the handover of the football pitch is another concrete example of Sabwe’s dedication to Lonshi’s development and a vivid illustration of a collaborative and mutually beneficial partnership between the enterprise and the community.
In his address, Mr. Zeng Haipeng emphasized that Sabwe remains committed to the principle of "Shared Growth Between Enterprise and Community." While advancing mine construction, the company places great importance on ensuring that development outcomes tangibly benefit local residents. Recognizing the local youth’s passion for football and the community’s urgent need for cultural and sports facilities, Sabwe decided to allocate financial, human, and material resources to build this standardized pitch. “Football is more than just a sport; it embodies the spirit of unity and perseverance,” Zeng said. “We hope this field becomes a stage for Lonshi’s youth to unleash their energy and pursue their dreams, and a bond that strengthens community friendship and solidarity.”
The completion and handover of the Lonshi football pitch represent a significant step forward in Sabwe’s ongoing efforts in community engagement. Looking ahead, Sabwe will continue to invest in education, healthcare, and infrastructure, working hand in hand with Lonshi Village to build a more prosperous and harmonious "shared home".
