A successful breakthrough was achieved between 980ml & auxiliary shaft at North Vent Shaft in Southeast Ore Body of Chambishi Copper Mine, 24 days ahead of schedule. This breakthrough improved underground working environment by decreasing temperature, improving haulage and hoisting system, which further lays a solid foundation for the production in 2017.
The construction of north vent shaft, downcast drift at 980ml and auxiliary shaft faced several difficulties such as large water inflow, complex geological condition, soft rocks, high temperature etc. In order to maintain safety and complete the breakthrough successfully, Mr. Yunliang Ma, the Deputy General Manager of JCHX Zambia and Project Manager of Chambishi, personally went underground to conduct survey, coordinated all departments to take responsibilities, cooperate with each other, conduct works in strict accordance to the requirements and standards. The engineers and technicians went underground several times to conduct surveys despite of the high temperatures, depth and long distance of wire, made specific breakthrough plan, finally achieved accurate and safe breakthrough between 980ml & auxiliary shaft, which won high recognition from the client and set a good example for other projects.
