On 19 April, the south drift on -270m at Huibaoling Iron Mine was successfully connected to the other part which was constructed by another contractor. The successful connection between two parts of this drift facilitates a more efficient and more convenient construction on -270m and won high recognition from the client.
This development work is 3.225km in total length including 0.71mk of decline development and 1.14km of drift development, commenced in May 2016. Various difficulties were overcome such as poor ground condition, fractured zone and water inflow. Blind heading also posed many challenges in terms of ventilation, water supply, air supply and labor arrangements, meanwhile longer distance for haulage, low mucking efficiency and high labor intensity created worse condition. To meet the construction and safety target all units worked day and night, spared no efforts in improving working processes, upgrading production structures, strengthening management subject to the requirements of client.
Before finishing the last 20 meters, JCHX communicated with the client who then noticed the other contractor. The surveyor from both sides conducted daily communications on the remained distance and progress of development. The last 11m were developed with 5m drill rod and test drilling were completed subject to design to ensure the accurate connection between two sides. A full-face one-time blasting were done for the final 3m. The quality of face blasting was totally perfect which required no further remedy.
The successful connection of drift development on -270m was the result of deep trust and great encouragement from the client, which laid a solid foundation for future works.
