After 23 days of continuous efforts, two sub-level declines at Baiyu Project (respectively between 4000-4050m, 4050-4100m) were successfully connected early in the morning of 6 April, one day ahead of original schedule and breaking the construction record by daily excavation over 10 meters.
Two sub-level declines, 230m in total, are the critical works for Baiyu Project since its commencement in 2018. Both declines are trackless haulage ways, and located in comparatively developed but less stable lithological compositions, which poses greater challenges for the excavation. At the beginning of 2018, the management team of Baiyu Project was restructured and the excavation of two declines commenced on 12 March. Despite of hardships such as high altitude and mountainous area, snowy & extremely cold weather, all crew worked in concerted effort with high sense of responsibility and accountability, under scientific organization and planning and guaranteed safety; meanwhile the internal communication and report was strengthened to keep up with the schedule.
To ensure the timely completion and quality of works, Rules on Construction & Management of Works is established, responsibility and accountability of different positions are assigned, key timeline is set, conditions for bonuses on early completion and penalties on delays are stipulated. Different management approaches and measures are proposed based on different cycles and operations to optimize the labor complement and fully utilize the strength and advantages. Management staff provided necessary support to the crew while supervising the works in terms of quality and promptness.
The successful connection of two declines largely encouraged the morale and motivated the crew to overcome future challenges and difficulties and finally achieve the annual target.
