On 25th July, monthly output at Pulang Project reached 1.1 million tones (106,000t more than scheduled), representing a successful completion of monthly target of July set by the Owner, which also symbolizes that the annual target of 12.5mt would be achieved as planned.
In 2019, production was commenced towards full scale and the Owner embarked on a journey of standardization subject to world-class copper mine, which laid a solid foundation for the successful realization of output target for Pulang Project. In late June when being informed of the 1mt target set for July, all departments at Pulang Project were determined and worked as one to achieve it.
Project leaders gave high priority to production safety in the process of mining. While forging ahead for the target, impacts on the underground development, ground support and blasting procedures were minimized. To ensure stable production, technicians were asked to keep observing the draw bell and ore pass, so as to ensure the daily target set forth by the owner be realized.
Undercut blasting is supposed to be as accurate as possible. However, the blasting result is not always satisfactory as undercut level expanded and stress concentration intensified. To ensure smooth production, technicians have to ensure accurate blasting and charging to lessen the impacts incurred by blasting.
The 1mt monthly target is a challenge for Pulang Project and also a test for the owner. Close cooperation from power plant and concentrator as well as stable and constant output were required, a smooth operation was maintained from ore drawing, hauling, concentrating, all the way to the tailing transportation. All departments and teams worked in concerted efforts for this ambitious target and in solving any difficulties through timely communication, execution and feedbacks.
