The day before International Labor’s Day, the Minister of Zambia Ministry of Mines and Natural Resources, Mr. Richard Musukwa, under the company of Mayor of Kalulushi Rashida Mulenga, and GM of NFCA Hu Guobin, Secretary of Party Committee Chen Zhimin and some other government officers, paid a visit to Chambishi Project, where he extended high recognition toward our epidemic prevention works including establishing isolation facilities.
Against the outbreak of COVID-19, Chambishi Project immediately respond to the request of the Client and took necessary measures to prevent the spread of virus while maintaining normal operations, such as lockdown management on both expatriates and local employees.
The emergency plan for lockdown management was made at the end of March, which was to refurbish 4 warehouses within Zambia-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone into living camps, to accomodate totally 541 Zambian employees.
On 26 April, the lockdown plan was officially implemented as the epidemic in Zambia became worse. Under the guidance and instructions from NFCA, JCHX team on Chambishi Project immediately started the construction and establishment of lockdown facilities.
In order to ensure the compliance with lockdown policy and maintain emotional stability of employees, an inspection mechanism was established and a special team led by project management was tasked to spontaneously check isolation camp together with Zambian managers, and to answer employees’ questions, promulgate relevant policies so that isolation measures would be effectively implemented. By 30 April totally 541 Zambian employees were accommodated in the lockdown facilities.
During his visit, Minister Richard Musukwa raised some suggestions on epidemic prevention and discussed with Zambian employees in lockdown facilities. He highly appreciated the efforts made in establishing lockdown facilities, through which he believes the route of infection/transmission would be effectively cut off, so that normal production could be guaranteed.
