Recently JCHX Mine Engineering Design Institute Co Ltd (hereinafter referred to as JCHX Engineering Institute) signed a design contract for Production Recovery of Orkney Gold Mine in the Republic of South Africa, representing its further expansion in overseas market.
Orkney Gold Mine is located in the world-famous gold cradle – Witswortland basin. Discovered in 1852, it has been constantly developed and divided into 7 mining blocks, with the deepest shaft down to 2300 meters. As an ultra-deep and large gold mine with long history, abundant resources, and high grade, Orkney gold deposit is buried deeply under the surface which poses great challenges to mine development and production.
Both executives of JCHX Headquarters and management of JCHX Engineering Institute attached great importance to this work, for which they assembled a professional team consisting of experienced engineers with international background and led by renowned experts. The team spared no effort to proceed with preliminary design works and fully utilized the experiences and technical advantages built up over the past 20 years in terms of mining optimization and efficient construction of ultra-deep shafts.
Owing to such endeavors, while fighting against COVID-19 pandemic, the team managed to complete the data vectorization of historical works, information extraction and modeling of underground development works, modeling of ore body and ore grade, selection of mining methods and mining equipment, tentative determination on main production level and initial stoping area. In addition, estimation on the hoisting capacity of 6# & 7# shafts were completed.
Upholding the principle of “integrity as cornerstone, innovation as power, best service and quality as target”, the team shall deliver high standard design documents and technical services to the client.
