On August 22, hoisting of the semi-autogenous mill (SAM) machine in the grinding workshop at Lonshi Copper Mine of Sabwe Mining SARL (Sabwe) was successfully completed, marking the transition of the project from capital construction to equipment installation.

At the word of General Manager He Jian, the first piece of SAM cylinder was slowly lifted up, moved over and turned by two 60-ton cranes according to the pre-formulated plan. As it landed steadily on the arc bracket of the SAM foundation, the first hoisting of the ball mill came to a successful end.

Two mills are the core equipment of processing system in the grinding workshop at Lonshi Copper Mine, and only one piece of the SAM cylinder weights 28 tons, which poses great risks and challenges to the installation works. In order to ensure the successful installation, Sabwe formulated detailed hoisting plan and analyzed repeatedly.

The successful completion of the hoisting of SAM cylinder fully demonstrates the working spirit of Sabwe team – rising to challenges and difficulties, and lays a solid foundation for the timely completion of predetermined target.
