On October 25th, the 1st Technical Seminar on Block Caving Method hosted by Zijin Mining, Serbian Ministry of Mines and the Serbian Association of Mining and Geological Engineers was held in Belgrade. Li Honghui, JCHX’s Chief Engineer in Shaft Sinking, Ma Yunliang, Deputy General Manager of Overseas Division and General Manager of Serbia Region, and Huang Huatao, Manager of Bor Project were invited.
First, Zhou Aiming, Chief Mining Expert of Zijin Mining, introduced the historical development and mining process of block caving method. Then, Tang Shaohui, Deputy Chief Engineer of Zijin Mining, gave a comprehensive introduction to the feasibility study and design progress of using block caving method in JM Mine and Cukaru Peki copper-gold mine, and Guo Xiaoqiang, Director of Zijin Strata Control Research Institute, shared the findings from rock mechanics research of JM Mine and Cukaru Peki copper-gold mine.
JCHX is one of the leaders in utilizing block caving method in China. During the seminar, Huang Huatao shared the successful experience in the application of block caving method in Pulang Copper Mine, one of the largest underground non-ferrous metal mines in China, located in Shangri-La City, Yunnan Province, which left a deep impression on and was highly recognized by the Serbian government officials, corporate executives and mining experts present. It further deepened local’s understanding of block caving method, strengthened their confidence and determination while playing a positive role in promoting the application of block caving mining in Serbia.
