The third "Lonshi Cup" football tournament, sponsored by Sabwe Company, was successfully held in Lonshi Village, Kipilingu Town, Lubumbashi, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), where JCHX's Lonshi Copper Mine project is located.
Since renovating the football pitch for Lonshi Village in November 2022, Sabwe Company has sponsored this local community tournament for three consecutive years. Zeng Haipeng, Executive Deputy General Manager of Sabwe Company, emphasized in his speech the company's commitment to supporting the development of the communities surrounding the Lonshi Copper Mine. He stated that while steadily advancing its overseas projects, JCHX always prioritizes social responsibility. He noted that the value of football extends beyond the competition on the field—it also fosters personal growth and promotes the spirit of sportsmanship. In the future, Sabwe Company will continue to actively fulfill its role as a "good neighbor," contributing to the well-being of the communities around the mine and fostering closer collaboration for shared development.
Maina Kiloba Jean Claud, President of the Lonshi Sports Association, expressed gratitude on behalf of the Kipilingu community for Sabwe Company's comprehensive support over the years, which has included facility renovations, event sponsorship, organization, and equipment provision. He noted that the upgraded facilities and the consistent success of the football tournament have not only enriched the sporting life of the local community but also provided a platform for young people to showcase their talents. Moreover, he stated that the event stands as a vivid example of the people-to-people exchanges and mutual understanding between China and the DRC.
