Recently, JCHX and Sumec Energy Holdings Co., Ltd. held a signing ceremony at JCHX’s headquarters for the EPCM project of a 71.4 MWp solar photovoltaic plus 230 MWh energy storage system for the solar-storage microgrid at Lonshi Copper Mine in DRC.
The cooperation scope primarily includes the design, procurement, and construction of Phase I of the solar-storage microgrid, representing a practical initiative by JCHX and Sumec Energy to actively respond to the call for high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. Against the backdrop of accelerating global energy transition, the two parties are promoting the deep and innovative application of green energy in the international mining industry by implementing clean, stable, and cost-effective power infrastructure solutions, jointly setting a new benchmark for green and low-carbon cooperation in the mining sector.
Mr. Qinghai Wang, Chairman of JCHX Mining, stated that in recent years, JCHX has deeply implemented its ESG sustainable development strategy, actively fulfilled its social and environmental responsibilities, and upheld the concept of green development. The company has integrated ecological protection, low-carbon emission, and green energy conservation into the full lifecycle of mine operations, striving to build eco-friendly modern mines.
The Lonshi Copper Mine in DRC is an overseas flagship benchmark project for JCHX. The launch of this solar-storage microgrid clean energy project at the mine site, in partnership with Sumec Energy, represents a landmark initiative by JCHX to take concrete action in driving the green and low-carbon transformation of the mining industry.
Once completed, the project will effectively increase the proportion of clean energy self-sufficiency on site, significantly reduce traditional fossil fuel consumption, cut carbon emissions from production operations, and comprehensively optimize the mine’s energy structure. This demonstrates the company’s sense of responsibility in protecting the ecological environment and fulfilling its dualcarbon goals.
Sumec Energy has substantial experience in the development of overseas new energy projects. Leveraging its mature technological integration capabilities and professional engineering management expertise, Sumec Energy will strictly control the quality of project construction to ensure the smooth, efficient, and timely commissioning of this green power project.
