Jinji Project
Client : Ivanhoe Mines
Established: November 2023
Location : Near Kipushi town, southwestern Haut-Katanga Province, DRC (adjacent to the Zambian border)
Project Overview: The Kipushi zinc-copper mine is recognized as one of the world’s highest-grade large-scale zinc deposits, boasting a production capacity of 800,000 tonnes per annum (tpa). The mine utilizes a combined development system comprising shafts and blind declines. The primary production shaft, Shaft P5, features a net diameter of 8 meters and reaches a depth of 1,240 meters.
Mining Method & Engineering Scope: The existing blind decline will be extended from the 1,330m level down to a depth of 1,600m. This extension will provide access to the “Big Zinc” and “Southern Zinc” orebodies for mechanized extraction. The mine employs the open stoping with delayed backfill mining method.
JCHX Scope of Work: The company’s contracted scope of work encompasses underground level development and mining production between the 1,200m and 1,590m levels.
